Oona - crocheted cowl
Oona is a cowl worked in tapestry crochet. The rounds form a whimsical yet stylish pattern - to some people, the red rounds on the grey/brown background look like poppies. Oona is a design by Annette Petavy.
The cowl is crocheted in the round, mainly in single crochet in the back loop only. The stitch pattern is worked in tapestry crochet.
The tapestry crochet motif is explained with a chart. The rest of the pattern is written. Links are provided to newsletters where I give more details about the techniques used.
You will need a worsted weight yarn, 100 g in the main colour and 50 g in the contrasting colour. I used 100 g of worsted weight merino (col pewter) and 1 50-g ball of Mochi Plus (col Leaves and Sprouts) for the grey and green version, and 2 50-g balls of Mochi Plus (col Feldspar) and 50 g of worsted weight merino (col deep red) for the grey/brown and red version.
Recommended hook size : 5 mm (US H-8) for single-colour rows and 6 mm (US J-10) for tapestry crochet rows.
The pattern uses US terminology.
