In the Shade of Leaves - crochet shawl
This design by EclatDuSoleil, while looking quite simple, is full of interesting details.
Instead of a classic triangular shawl, this one is asymmetrical - you will be able to wear it in many original and easy ways.
The stitch pattern looks basic but plays cleverly on the contrast between a treble mesh and a solid stitch.
Finally, the leaf border is delicate and adds a touch of whimsy.
The shawl in the photos was crocheted with 800 m (880 yds) of Malabrigo Sock. As a substitution, my fingering weight merino would work perfectly. You will need 4 balls.
Suggested hook size: 3.5 mm (US E-4) for the main part of the shawl, 3 mm (US D-2 or C-3) for the leaf border.
For a summery version, I suggest using 2 balls of the Whirlette yarn. You might want to go down a hook size, to 3 mm for the body of the shawl and 2.5 mm for the leaves.
This product contains only the pattern for the shawl, available as a downloadable pdf file.
