Pyramidal - crochet shawl
While working the Pyramidal shawl, you will see your gradient yarn reveal its colours in a half-circle. Constructed according to the "pi" principle, Pyramidal is a shawl with strong graphical motifs drawn with trebles. The stitch pattern allows this big and cozy shawl to have great drape and softness - you can also roll it around your neck!
Pyramidal is worked top down. It is designed as a "pi shawl", where increases are concentrated to specific rows.
Size of the shawl in the pictures: wingspan approx 160 cm/63", height approx 80 cm/31.5".
The pattern is both written and charted.
I worked my Pyramidal shawl with 1 ball of Scheepjes Whirl yarn, col 754 Green Tea Tipple.
You can substitute this yarn by approx 1000 m / 1100 yds of another light fingering weight yarn - choose a gradient, or play with different colours.
Recommended hook: a 3 mm (US C-2 or D3) or the size needed to get gauge.
Gauge: The first 5 rows form a half circle approx 15 cm/6" wide and 7 cm/2.75" high before blocking.
The pattern uses US terminology.
