Ease into inlay mosaic crochet with Maya! In this pretty little cowl, you can work inlay mosaic crochet on a small scale, as a first project or just for fun.

Maya is worked flat (the easiest and most natural way to work inlay mosaic crochet) and then seamed to form a tube.

Dimensions:
Circumference: approx 64 cm/25.25"
Height: approx 21 cm/8.25"

This is a quick project resulting in a relatively short cowl - if you want to make it higher, it's easy to simply repeat the pattern. In this case, please make sure that you have access to a larger amount of yarn than indicated below.

The mosaic portion of Maya is explained both as a chart and as written instructions. Both types of instructions can be used independently.

The pattern includes links to step-by-step tutorials with photos for any special stitches and the inlay mosaic technique.

Maya is worked in the Puno yarn from Pascuali, an interesting, lovely cotton and alpaca blend. There is also a kit, using the Puno yarn, available in the shop. If using another yarn, choose a fingering weight yarn. You will need about 200 meters of each of the two main colours, and around 40 meters for the accent colour (the "pop" in the stripes).

Recommended hook size: 3.5 mm (US E-4) or the size needed to get gauge.

Gauge: 16 sts x 17 rows = 6 cm/2.25" in inlay mosaic crochet pattern.

The pattern uses US terminology.

This product contains only the pattern for the design, sold as a downloadable pdf file.
