Guinguette - knitted shawl
Please join me at my table in the old-fashioned French tavern, called guinguette! The colourful string lights above us recall the pompoms in the shawl, the simple menu is the easy textured stitch pattern, and the colours are yours to choose. Guinguette is a crescent-shaped shawl where the upper edge curves around your shoulders. The bottom edge is a picot hem adorned with pompoms.
Size: Height at center approx 40 cm/15.75"; wingspan approx 165 cm/65" after blocking
The pattern is written, with photos to illustrate the finishing instructions.
The shawls in the pictures where worked in Annette Petavy Design fingering weight merino. Please see available kits below.
You can substitute any wool yarn of the same weight (200m/219yds per 50g).
You will need approx. 600m (657yds) of the main colour and 200m (219yds) of each of the 3 contrast colours.
Needle: A 3.5 mm (US 4) circular needle, 100 cm/40" long, or the size needed to get gauge.
Gauge: 21 sts x 36 rows in textured stitch pattern = 10 x 10 cm/4" x 4".
