Ecume - crochet shawl
The stitch pattern I used in Ecume makes me think of the waves in the sea. For a long time, I lived close to the water. It's not the case any longer, but with Ecume I can wrap the waves around my shoulders!
The little border gives the shawl its name: "Écume" in French is foam, the little white bubbles that form on the waves and that sometimes lingers on the sand when the wave itself has already returned to the sea.
Ecume is shaped as a hexagon... plus some. This shawl will settle well on your shoulders. You could even wear it as a small cape, attached with a brooch.
Ecume is worked in a fingering weight yarn, in alpaca or wool for example. You will need approx. 800 m / 880 yds of yarn.
A great yarn choice for this design would be my fingering weight alpaca yarn. You will need 5 balls.
Suggested hook size : 4 mm / US G-6.
Ecume is a design by Annette Petavy.
