Blue Song - crochet shawl
One pattern, two borders, endless variations - this is what designer EclatDuSoleil/Hélène Marcy offers with Blue Song! The body of the shawl is always worked in the same stitch pattern, but depending on your choice between colour blocking and narrow stripes and your pick of border, you can customize this pattern to your own liking.
Size after blocking
Version 1: 132 cm wide x 66 cm deep (52" x 26") at the tip
Version 2: 148 cm wide x 66 cm deep (58" x 26") at the tip
The pattern is both written and charted.
Yarns used:
Version 1: Annette Petavy Design laceweight bamboo (currently unavailable): 300m (330yds) per 50-g ball; 3 balls of matching or contrasting colours - a total of 900m/985yds
Version 2: Annette Petavy Design London, Covent Garden or Beth Chatto; 50% wool / 50% silk - 400m per 50-g ball/skein; 2 balls/skeins of matching or contrasting colours - a total of 800m/875yds
Recommended hook size: A 3mm (US C-2 or D) hook, or the size needed to get gauge.
Gauge after blocking
Version 1 : 10 cm (4") = 4,5 stitch repeats x 11 rows
Version 2 : 10 cm (4") = 5 stitch repeats x 12 rows
