Come and join me On the Beach! Let's crochet shells, pebbles and waves together. You will discover varied and original stitch patterns, both lacy and textured, while we enjoy ourselves under the beach umbrella.

This semi-circular shawl is worked top down, with the increases concentrated in specific rows. There are no increases in the more complex stitch patterns.

The pattern is written with charts (except for section 2 which is written only).

The shawl in the pictures was made with 1 ball of Scheepjes Whirl (60% cotton, 40% acrylic; 1000 m [1095 yds]/225 g) and 1 ball of Scheepjes Whirlette (60% cotton, 40% acrylic; 455 m [498 yds] /100 g). These yarns are available in the shop.

Recommended hook size: 3 mm (US C-2 or D-3), or the size needed to get gauge.

Gauge is measured directly at the start of the shawl - the "half-circle" obtained after the first 10 rows of the set-up section should measure 6 cm (slightly more than 2.25") deep.

The pattern uses US terminology.
