Wave - crochet shawl
Wave is a shawl shaped like an asymmetrical triangle. Its longest, smooth side contrasts with the zigzag edge of the other side. A simple, yet clever shaping method will make crocheting this original shape a breeze.
Wave provides a superb display for your gradient and slow striping yarns. You may also want to work it in a single colour that will underline the shape.
This design is worked for one side tip to the other. It has a wingspan of approx 170 cm/67" along the upper edge and is approx 50 cm/19.75" wide at its widest point.
The pattern is written with charts.
You will need approximately 650 m/710 yds of fingering weight wool yarn to make Wave. The blue shawl in the photos was made in a custom-dyed yarn which is currently unavailable.
You can also make a cotton version - the shawl in orange hues in the pictures was worked with 3 balls of the organic multicoloured cotton available in the shop. Make sure to follow the instructions for the cotton version to avoid running out of yarn.
Hook: 3.5 mm (US E-4) or the size needed to get gauge.
Gauge: 5 shells = 12 cm/4.75" wide; 7 rows = 11 cm/4.25" high after blocking. The stitch pattern used is described in the pattern.
The pattern uses US terminology.
This product contains only the pattern for the design, sold as a downloadable pdf-file.
